Default King Tour Pack Cracking

March of 2024
Spent over 1500.00 on a King Tour Pack, quick detach mount, and air wing luggage rack. Had it on for two weeks. Then I had dealer add and wire LED Tour Pack lights with magic strobe & air wing light. A week after a trip to Laconia at bike week the bottom half of the tour pack is cracking and Harley won’t honor the warranty, saying I put the washers in wrong place, or over tightened the bolts/nuts. WHICH I DIDN’T. Total BS, saw other posts with similar problems. Harley needs to acknowledge and accept the warranty on their products

Just got off the phone with Harley Davidson customer relations, their representative told me it was entirely my fault that the Tour Pack cracked. He talked in circles saying that there was nothing he would do to resolve the problem, and he even admitted it was within his discretion to enable some relief / remedy. It was entirely my fault was his position. Total disregard for having a happy customer. I even asked to split the cost of the replacement part. It was like talking to a wall. I asked if I could speak to his supervisor, he stated no, because Harley would not reconsider. I am so disappointed in Harley’s response, . Maybe someone above him will read this post. This is entirely on Harley Davidson Corporate, My dealership, Harley Davidson of Boston in Revere has been extremely helpful trying to resolve this.
Update to update, after this someone did read it and Harley Davidson MoCo split the cost I paid $1228.40 for new bottom shell of tour pack and labor for Boston Harley-Davidson to install it this time. Work completed on 8/3/2024.

Update to Cracked King Tour Pack from 2024
March of 2025 Had the bike detailed, you'll never guess what was discovered. Second Tour pack cracked. EXACT same spot, exact same side, exact same bolt. Brought it to Boston Harley-Davidson they submitted a warranty claim for it. I'll bet you'll never guess what Harley-Davidson MoCo said. " NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY" They stated I overloaded the Pack, Funny last time they said I overtightened the mounting bolts. This time when Boston Harley-Davidson installed it they couldn't say the bolts were overtightened, so Harley Davidson MoCo said I overloaded it. To be continued Harley Davidson MoCo.

@PeterDemirdjian
Did you have any luggage or gear strapped to the luggage rack? Did you open the lid on the tour-pak with your gear still attached to the luggage rack?

Got pictures? I'd like to see where it cracked.

If you had the lighting installed for you, I'm assuming HD removed the tour pak to do the installation, then replaced it when done. If so, they can't blame you for faulty mounting methods.

I've had mine on for just over a year using the quick release hardware. 8500 miles (3200 with a small 10 lb suitcase strapped on the luggage rack). No issues at all.

What bike is this on?
It does have the metal plate inside, right?
Is it mounted to a detachable, bounce like a bobble head mount?

End of the day, no one wants to hear a new member who only joined to complain or bitch about something or someone. Guarenteed when this life event is over, you'll never hear from him again...

I came here because the old Harley web board was shut down by Harley in 2010 or so. These types of new boards are not as mechanically proficient as the previous boards. That board also required that you prove HD ownership and that you rode. To get "fully approved", I was invited to ride to a members house. I did so and made friends. Because folks were vetted, few issues occurred. It was a good board for the 1995-2010 time frame. We also paid to keep it ad free.
