So after all that and having it back together I put the voltage regulator on and the plugs on the back of the voltage regulator I too close together to run the wires underneath there. They chafe in just a few rides from what I can tell. Now I'm going to order a different one that isn't on Amazon and see if that sets up better. It doesn't look like much in the picture but it definitely is tight enough so I don't dare to use the new one. Any recommendations?

I would not own a harley without manual. For older bikes you can find them on ebay. Other year I went and bought parts and electrical cheap. Unused. Though I tend to use online parts, rather than manual.
You need to be careful about capacities and reading forums, I have three TCs and each one has different capacity for tranny and primary.
Good morning,
So after approximately 300 miles my bike seems to be all set...finally. I'm sorry for the long drawn out thread. It went off the rails a couple times, but it was obviously a great help to me in getting my issue resolved. I really appreciate all the input, and I've learned a lot during this process. Maybe this will all be helpful to someone else in the future! Ride safe everyone!
Maybe you can give up golf, and spend more time on the bike now. Glad you let us know what the problem was. Kind of tough one cause everything said you had a bad volt reg. but you hate to tell a guy to buy one, when just replaced it. But you did buy a goofball brand. I would try returning it if they have any kind of warranty, They'll probably send another though. Maybe it will be good, for back up.

They accepted the return and refunded my money which was a bonus!
