Wow, This is all great info, Thank You!

I was out the other day on the bike, left it idling before I went out got a mile down the road, turned around to head home and the engine quick, when I turned the engine off and back on my check engine came on, went out and they flashed a couple of times. The bike started right up and when put it in gear and took off the engine light came and the engine began to quit, I revved it a few times engine light went out, went a couple 200 yard same thing. It will back fire from time to time as well.

When I got home I put a spark tester while it was hot and both cylinders have spark. I did notice that the plug wire on the rear cylinder was really hot, almost to hot to touch. I also noticed that the plug wire doesn't snap onto the plug like the front wire and the slightest tug on it take sit off.

They had problems with main breaker but then all lights should shut off. If he has dash or can crank, not that.

His bike has breaker. Swapping fuse did nothing I suspect other than reseat or knock some corrosion off

You can pull some codes for m dash by holding trip button and then turning bike off.

Cam sensors went away 2000 or 2001, I can't remember if carbs had them. If they did, I think aftermarket ignitions may have had a way to delete.

edit
If rear plug wire is hot replace. It should snap in.

It is good to replace periodically anyways
