Default Kraus EZ-shift link - worth it?

Hi, has anyone installed this:

https://krausmotorco.com/ez-shift/?srsltid=AfmBOopV8Ga4Div_QZANh62jn8VB9eL4THtApRar9 E2A_KWyIO4SURUr

...and if so - was it worth it, makes a difference?

Must say, I can't always find N when stopped (actually hardly anytime I can easily do it in riding boots, in normal shoes somehow it's easier).

Another question / does it make sense to buy both this link and a replacement EZ-shift gear lever, or one is enough? If they write each would give eg. 20% less force needed to shift (and more precision!) - if I install both items - would it summarize? Just wondering and if it would, wouldn't it be harmful for the gearbox somehow...

The Krause unit works great! I've seen imported knockoffs online for about half as much.

I installed the EZ-shift with the "apex ss3 bagger shift rod" last week on my 2019 SGS
First impression on 3 short rides is smoother and less noisy shifting and finding neutral is easier.
Hard to imagine the MoCo could"nt figure this out to solve the finding neutral complaints, but maybe there are downsides on the Kraus configuration?

Before spending $100, read this thread: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...rovements.html

Among the suggestions is to drill a new hole in the FRONT lever a bit lower than the factory hole. That will do for FREE, what the rear lever extension does, increase your leverage making shifting easier at the cost of needing to move the toe and heel levers FARTHER each time. FIRST, I would suggest lubing everything and seeing how that works for you. If you still want the new piece, that is your choice. I have yet to see anyone complain after changing the factory ball joints for Heim joints on the shift rod. Make sure the transmission arm is tight. It almost always seems to need tightening by the 1000 mile check.

Thrashin EZ- Shift vs Kraus M8 EZ Shift

This is only my personal experience. I purchased both of these with my own money. Here is my opinion of these two products. Your experience may vary.

Let me start by saying there is no fix for an improperly adjusted clutch. That is where is all should start first.

The comparison is between these two accessories with one on a 21 SGS, 114 Cable clutch with Oberon levers. The other on a 22 CVO RG, 117 cable clutch also with Oberon levers.

When we purchased our 2021 Street Glide and started adding accessories I went all in with Thrashin on floor boards, highway pegs, adjustable brake pedal lever, shift linkage and the Thrashin EZ-Shiftlever just for looks. What I soon realized is this bike always goes into neutral like butter 100% of the time.

As hard as I worked on the clutch adjustment, and I have become very experienced on it I could never get the RG to shift as smoothly. I had been hearing good things about th Kraus unit and decided to try it on the RG. It was like magic and totally rivals the SGS now.

I am very pleased with both, they are both excellent in my opinion. The Kraus wins out overall with the lower price point. I would definitely purchased both of these again.

Just my experience for what it’s worth.

BTSOM suggested lubing shift linkage and being the I have trouble finding neutral I decided to do just that, first I removed the shift shaft and seen it was lubed with anti seize also all heim linkage moved freely. I wasn't going to do anything more but decided to lube all moving parts with my favorite lube ( GIBBS ) and reassembled. What a surprise when I rode it, neutral is so easy to find when its running or at idle. Only thing I can figure out is when shifting up to neutral the cross shaft is pressed up against the shaft bushing and binding. So a shot of lube is all that is needed to fix the dreaded shift problem.

What if I install the Thrashin' AND the Kraus? Will my shifting become TOO easy??

I have the Thrashin'. It's a great piece and has made finding neutral very easy, not that I ever had much trouble in the past. A simple rock back and forth while putting some light pressure on the shift lever always did the trick for me. I will say the heim joints on my Thrashin' shift linkage were squeaking quite a bit recently. Some lube fixed that right up.

The last thing I would want is to increase the movement of the shift lever to make a gear change. good hiem joints, clean and lubricated movement points is all that is needed.

I watched some YouTube videos on the Krause EZ shift and some of the commentors stated that the Amazon knock offs didn't fit nearly as well as the Kraus unit.

Cosmic you bring up a good option. I had never seen the Trhashin shifter arm before. If it works as good as the Kraus unit I wonder if it would be an easier install because I wouldn't have to readjust the shifter levers like I would when I installed the Kraus unit.

Do you think it realy makes any difference?
