I am on my 3rd "Re-use" of my current comp bolt. After a few re-use's of the original bolt, I took a die grinder and cut groves into the side of it to re-use it as a thread chaser to clean all the old Loctite out of the female threads. After chasing them, I use a Plumbers Brush, Brakleen, and compressed air to finish cleaning it all out. The bolt itself gets hit with the wire wheel on my grinder and Brakleen.
Several years ago I had the compensator off when I replaced the stator; I just re-used the bolt. Never a problem. Until today, I didn't know you weren't supposed to. Had I known, I'd probably gotten a new one.
