saw this then checked my oil and it was at the full mark. I normally run it lower on the dip stick. I saw this after a 300 mile ride. I removed about a half quart and went for a a 2 hour ride today after I removed this bolt and put some liquid Teflon on it. didn't see the leak when I got home.
That bolt holds the outer primary chain case to the inner chain case.
Has NOTHING to do with engine oil levels, it has it's own level and fluid chamber.
And I assume some kind of touring bike.......what year, model?
12 sg..thanks for the reply. it looks like engine oil and not like the redline oil in the primary. seems like its all good now but will keep an eye on it.

I think i would be pulling off the derby cover to check the level.
And yes if main shaft seal is bad engine oil could get in primary.

don't think that's necessary. bike runs fine and finding neutral has not changed. I was just wondering if the end of the threads of that bolt has access to engine oil at high rpm.
that oil came from that bolt. this has happened about 3 times over 5 to 6 years. I believe it has happened after me doing an oil change. probably overfilled it.
