I bought this bike back in April, and am now finding things that are showing it has more to the story than I was told. I have been to the HD dealership and asked forbthe history of the bike through the HD Dealer Net, so I have that much of it. I tried looking up the Vin to see history, but dont want to pay to find out the damage or accident history. Can anyone show me how to get the info if possible?

I could be wrong but I don't believe there's a Carfax equivalent for motorcycles.
Just so I understand, you spent $,$$$ on a bike but will not pony up a little more for the history.
I took the liberty to search for a free car fax. Ride safe.

Out of curiosity what do you think happened, what clues, and do you care or just curious?
I was told it was in a small fender blender, but it looks worse than that. Damaged faring covered by a bra, exhaust pipes that aren't the same style, tour pack that has been modified to fit, front fender dented by the highway bars. Nothing major that causes problems riding.

I didn't realize there was a link for bikes on CarFax. I will use that. I was referring to the other less known sites that want $40 just to get into the site, and a monthly fee as well. Thanks brother.

Its interesting but I speculate that few motorcycle repair shops report, so I'm not sure how useful it is, but again, I could be wrong.
Also, there are a lot of complaints about vinseeker that mention obscuring subscription fees you agree to when you do the $1 lookup.

You were told? Did you buy the bike sight unseen?
Regardless, the damage is done, Pun 🤣.
I'd remove the fairings, tank, bags, exhaust and open the cam chest and primary for inspection. Next, start correcting what ever is wrong and reassemble the bike, add fluid and do a test ride.
But..... this is just my opinion and the bike is not my bike.
Good luck!
Y open the cam chest and primary for inspection. N
Good luck!
Unless mileage dictates I would not do this. So maybe the bike had an accident, and was repaired. You couldn't tell. Probably not an issue. Maybe someday you will come across a crack. But why look for it? Sounds cosmetic. I get curiosity. But there are better things to spend your time on.
Bingo!!!
You were right.
Passed history: I was hit from behind by an SUV. By some miracle, my guardian angel kept me safe with minor damage to my bike.
The Bike-Fax did not record this event. Nor was this a free service. It was as close to free, it cost a dollar.
If I remember correctly, it cost about $1500 to repair at the dealer and the repairs are missing from this report.
But it dose show some useful stuff like recalls that were performed. I know the recalls were done because I took the bike in for the gas tank and rear break recalls.
So, in a nut shell, I guess it is worth a dollar. Like you said, it depends on the company doing the repair and reporting the accident and the repairs.
