I bought this bike back in April, and am now finding things that are showing it has more to the story than I was told. I have been to the HD dealership and asked forbthe history of the bike through the HD Dealer Net, so I have that much of it. I tried looking up the Vin to see history, but dont want to pay to find out the damage or accident history. Can anyone show me how to get the info if possible?
It reads like you acquired a motorcycle back in April.
A used bike.
You knew the bike was in a fender bender (accident).
Now you are discovering some damage: Damaged faring covered by a bra, exhaust pipes that aren't the same style, tour pack that has been modified to fit, front fender dented by the highway bars.
Nothing major that causes problems riding.
From a distance it reads like you knew that bike was used and you knew that bike was involved in an incident .
Perhaps you never inspected the bike and did not have the opportunity to review the motorcycle for a few months.
If you do not have the skill set to review motorcycle yourself then consider taking to an independent mechanic to inspect and review safety as soon as possible.
Then decide what should be fixed or replaced once that report is available.
History reports mean very little if the damage was not reported into the system.
Seen plenty of vehicles with clean titles and apparent damage that went unreported.
Seen vehicles the other way around too...report was showing accident damage but vehicle was extra clean because repair was well done.
For future reference and for those who are looking at used motorcycles and may not have experience in buying them, attached is a used motorcycle evaluation guide and primer into buying used motorcycles.

The bike he bought was your old bike???? No bleep. Or I just can't follow a story.
No, he did not buy my bike. I used my bike as an example proving the following statement Originally Posted by Keithhu. It's interesting but I speculate that few motorcycle repair shops report, so I'm not sure how useful it is, but again, I could be wrong.
He was right, my local dealer did not report any details of the accident involving my bike.
