Default Two-way lock nut needed?

Looking for your opinion here. I added some pics to show what I'm referring to.

The nut used to install the auxiliary lights (towel bar style) is a two-way locking nut (pictured). These locking nuts work great, but are a b*tch to loosen and tighten. Trying to adjust the auxiliary light while tightening one of these is going to be a bear!

My thought is to just get some standard flange nuts and use some blue thread locker. This should make it much easier to adjust (and readjust) the lights as I'm reassembling.

Thoughts?

I don’t see how it’s that big of an issue, but if I were going to replace it, I would just get a Nylock flange nut from the hardware store. or a regular nut with a star washer,

Yep, Nylock flange or even just Nylock and a good hardened machine flatwasher instead of that pinch-nut

OK, cool. I was just wondering if there was a reason they used such a tough not to use... I'm just going to go with loctite.

They use that style of nut because it’s cheaper to manufacture than a Nylock nut. I bought a package of Nylock nuts somewhere, probably Amazon, years ago that has a mix of several size nuts, just be sure to order inch instead of metric. Pretty handy when working on lots of stuff in the garage.

Put it back together enough to keep the light tight enough that with a bit of muscle you can adjust it ... Been there, done that with success ... Good luck
