I had the same issue on my 07 Ultra Classic. Got the tension tool and adjusted the drive belt. It stopped.

Well being the owner of a almost 25 year old motorcycle, strange noises are something you can count on. I've had my share of "what the hell is that sound" moments. Well its not unusual that the engine gets a little clicky and ticky as it gets older. Sometimes just a oil change can make it not as noticeable. What I do every so often is get something to sit on, and a handful of different size wrenches. The I begin to check every nut , bolt and screw on the bike. Start with the front end, and work my way back. If you can see it, check to see if it's tight. Don't forget to check the return spring on the side stand. Pound lightly on the exhaust pipes, to see if the chrome covers are still tight, and the muffler clamps are still clamping. The rubber hanger bushings will squeak when they get dried out, and are cheap and easy to replace. I believe your shifter shaft has a grease fitting in it, as well as the brake pedal, give them a squirt to keep them quiet. And if you have a gremlin bell, take that thing off . You don't need an intensional noise maker. I would spend some time with a wrench in hand looking for loose stuff, before I start tearing things apart. Good luck.,,
I got under there and got the rest of the soft part of the belt guard off, it was laying up on the belt. Havent been able to ride it, raining a lot here! Are these motors known for having a slight lifter ticking noise? Like a loose rocker arm sound? Thats one of the noises when Im riding it sounds like!
