Default 2017 FLHR progressive front fork inserts

Gents, and Ladies if present, (I copied and moved this from general chat, they didn't wanna talk shocks..)

I am getting some Progressive 944's ultra touring (regular) for the rear of my Road King.
I want to put in Progressive front shock inserts.
Which part number do I need or I should ask what are the good inserts to use. I want stock height, I'm just wanting a better ride. I don't bagger race it or anything, nothing hot rod type.
I hope all had a great Thanksgiving...ride on..
Thanks.

I installed the cartridges in my 86. Give them a call for correct fitment.Im very pleased with the results. The bike handles better and no more messing with the air.

Whats your riding style solo, 2up weight etc.
Are you stuck on progressives?
Much better options out there.

No I'm not really stuck on progressives, just that they had a good rep and I wanted to keep front and rear the same brand. They don't have to be, as long as I get the intended results.
I don't ride two up very often at all, I'm 230 lbs and occasionally have a few pounds of luggage on a trip.
Budget wise they're in the ball park.
I was just confused on the spacer they talk about, either 1 or 2. I don't really want it lowered, stock height would be good.
I know they say the progressive backs will lower I think about an inch..?
Yeah maybe I'll call them so I don't order the wrong ones..
Unless I hear of other shocks here..

I had a set of 944's years ago and unless they have made alot of changes to them.
They sucked worst shocks i ever owned.
I have owned alot of shocks over the years.
Koni, Works, Ohlins, Rwd, Fox etc.
For the $ You can't beat Fox i think they are the most
Underrated suspension out there.
Just my opinion but I would buy anything BUT progressives
Alot out there nowadays.
On my ultra I'm running Fox fork cartridge up front
And RWD rs-2 on the back and can't be happier.
We ride 2up all the time with gear so we went with HD springs.
If i was riding solo all the time I would chose standard springs.

If I was you I would do emulator inserts instead. I used DK Intiminators. I know you said you wanted to stick with same brand but the valves are so smooth and eliminate the instant dive and smooth over the bumps. I had Progressive cartridges and I liked them because I rode very aggressively then. They were stiff to start but eased off over time. The new progressive springs will certainly help though if you go that route.
for the rear i honestly think you can do better.

this was my review of the DK Customs imtiminators when i bought them 3 years ago. here is their link

Took the forks apart and installed the Intiminators today. Relatively easy job, but did take a buddy and I to put the fork cap back on considering we did it manually with out a press. Once we had the first one figured the second one only took 15 minutes or so which included a beer while the fork drained upside down. Prior to the change I rode a route that included city driving, pavement cracks, bad asphalt, and a cloverleaf. I crossed a set of train tracks twice. I also braked fairly aggressively from 50 kmh to try and quantify the brake dive. After the change, I essentially rode the same path. From my seat of the *** study, I believe the bike dives less quickly than prior when braking. It also strikes me that braking with some dive and hitting an expansion joint is less “abrupt” after the change. The bounce over the tracks is hard to say since the whole bike moves anyway. During some of the shallower bumps on the city streets, it feels like the bike is more planted. Perhaps the rebound is more controlled. It also seemed that the bike tracked better during the relatively aggressive cloverleaf turns. All in all, I believe there is a difference; however, it doesn’t strike me as a nite and day difference like I had when I changed my ’89 and ’07 E-Glides from stock to progressive front springs and 412 rear shocks. Nor as significant as going from the ’07 to the ’19. But I believe there is a difference. As I said, it does feel more planted on the ground. I have a trip coming up and will have more seat time with it. Is it worth it? i am not exactly sure what i expected, but yes i think it is. the bike seems to hug the road better. i am not regretting the purchase at all. Now a word about DK Customs. these are good folks to deal with. i first started down the path for this item due to this You Tube video. i had some questions that i sent by email directly to them. Dwayne got back to me with in 24 hours both times. the tag line on their email signature is " To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity." It looks like they live by this. really good folks to deal with

I’ve installed the Pro-Action fork kit in three bikes now. For the money it is amazing.

Great people, great products.

I ran the 944s with progressives monotubes on my ultra. it us a solid choice for anything from touring to moderately hard riding. Ran the standard weight springs out back with both clips on the monotubes with , i think, 10 or 15 weight up front.

I wrote a thread about it somewhere here.

If you go with progressive the spacers are for pre-load
The more you add the stiffer the frontend will be
And also raise it some. Using 1 spacer will make it softer.
This is one of the reasons i don't like them.
If you don't get it right you have to pull it back apart
And redo, Same with legends suspension.
