Default Quick detach loose problem

Hey to everyone,
Been a while since I have been on here. But I have a problem that I just can't solve yet.
I have installed a quick detach tour pack mount several years ago (Hogworkz). Everything was good for a while.
Now, the tour pack wobbles all over the place on the docking hardware. Thinking it was the hardware themselves. I purchased new hardware and bolts. Assembled everything. Still loose.
So, I then purchased the entire mount and docking hardware kit. Assembled all new. 2 rides in. Loose yet again. Tour you can grab the tour pack and wobble it about a 1/2. When riding down the road it just shakes like crazy at every bump.

Anyone have this problem? If so, how did you solve it.

I am at my wits end here and am thinking about welding up a bracket and bolting it to the docking hardware.

When I was fooling around with racks and paks and not sure how I was going to configure my Road King I bought a TCMT detachable tour pak rack and docking hardware. It cost about a fifth of what Harley parts cost. I normally have run all HD parts and accessories on my bikes in the past, but I figured I’d try this stuff out. They package their parts extremely well. Ships from the west coast free. I’m very pleased with it for the price.

The black "bushings" in the mount are concentric. They look round but they are not. You rotate them to take out the slop.

That was my first thought also until I thought about how much it wobbles.

OP, does your tour back c-brackets that fit onto the bikes mount have the rubber grommets on them? They assure a tight snug fit.

If that is not the issue please post some pictures so we can get a better idea.

Chopper man. I look at the bushings. Mine measure round. I even have ones that are not installed, so they are new and they measure round.

Cosmic, the Hogworkz one that I have does not have the C that you are talking about. This is the 2008 and earlier mount See picture below

Did you measure from the center line not just the O.D.?

I have the same problem with my 2016 street glide and amazon tour pack the previous owner purchased. Not only does the tour pack rattle and shake, the lock on the lid is not secure and I have lost items before I was able to determine that. I have replaced the rubber grommets but that did not help.

My solution was getting a ratchet tie down strap that goes over the top of the tour pack, wraps back underneath it, and secured around the front left saddlebag mount.

Yeah it looks terrible but it works and I am able to carry my stuff in there. And it is not that convenient ratcheting that strap every time I need to get into the tour pack but it works. Only thing that has prevented me from replacing the tour pack is I have seen other removable tour packs that are just as loose.

Regards,
Crankster

The bushing itself IS round, it is the center hole that is slightly offset which gives you the adjustment when you rotate it.

I don't know how the OP's mount is configured, I had the Harley quick disconnect mount. It had plastic bushings on the bolts the big C slots engaged. Over time the bushings wore or compressed and developed slop. I tried the suggestion of installing wire bundle ties that would fit in the slots of the plastic bushings and "shim them out" .That made the C slot fit so tight it was almost a permanent mount, but that cured the slop.

What are wire bundle ties ? Zip ties? Or a wider range of ties?
