Default Which Radar Detector?

I've seen a few threads on this general topic, but none really addressed the questions I have. I realize there are several good units available that are motorcycle-specific (including the Roadtech available from our stealers). I'm looking for one for use ONLY on my Ultra (I already have a great Bell for use in my Avalanche). I'm interested to hear the good, bad, or ugly regarding experiences. I'd also like to be able to hear it even using the stereo, etc. Thanks!

I agree ,,, I have used the V-1 for as long as I can remember (at least ten years) even had it updated a couple of times ,,,,, damed hard to beat this unit ,,,,,,

arrows to tell you the direction of the radar signal being aimed at you and they do work ,,,,,

various distinct alert tones so you know what is around and which type of radar signal is being used ,,,,,,

miles of advance warning most of the time so you don't get caught with your pants down ,,,, even on the short pulse KA band stuff ,,,,

top-notch service (((almost asd good as J&M's hahaha))) that is just not available most places anymore ,,,,,,

don't know what else to say ,,,,, JMJOHN ,,, john@jmcorp.com ,,,,,,,

Valentine One. Hands down. Had mine for many years and has saved my tail countless times. They aren't cheap but they are the best bar none IMHO.

Initial Cost can be spread over severl years with 0 additional out of pocket

The V 1 needs to be mounted in a waterproof case for bike use, but a $25 plastiv box works great

I used to run my V-1 but I switched to the Crusader remote detector which is more selective then my V-1 plus water is no problem.

Ah yes here goes the V1 aginst the Escort thread My opinion is the V1 is a lot of hype! Who cares if the radar is to the left or right or behind you. You just slow down till it quits beeping! I've had both and it may not be the best that Escort makes but the Solo works really good for me. It runs off batteries so no power cord. It shuts off on it's own if nothing moves in front of it for a few minutes. You can just slip it in your pocket when you leave the bike or switch it to the car [remember no power cord] and it worked for me as well as the V1 and half the price. Let the V1 vs Escort begin

Sounds like the V-1 isn't made for a motorcycle (not weatherproof).

I have the Roadtech for my Ultra, which is made by Escort. I haven't got a ticket yet, and have owned Escort for several years now. It will reach out as much as 2-3 miles. I have 2 other Escorts also, without any complaints at all. (This is only my opinion, and not an advertisement).

Another vote for the V1. I don't have one on my bike, just my car; however I believe they make a remote unit that could probably work well on bike.
