Persistent Electric Gremlin 2012 FLHX
The reason why this is a real headscratcher is that once the Bike starts, it runs great!. I put 25miles on it last weekend to get it to throw some codes, and nothing! There is no misfiring during operation that would suggest the CKP, Coil, Wires, or Spark plugs are the problem. It pulls hard, suggesting fuel is not the problem. It is simply that this gremlin presents at random at startup. On Sunday, I started it cold, in a second, shut it off, restarted, no problem, shut it off, then cycled through more than 10 attempts, holding down the start button for 10 seconds each, nothing. The Harley tech's theory was this: the compression is too low, and by flooding the cylinder with fuel, it increases the compression and then fires. That enlightened opinion cost me $142! If you believe that I have a bridge to sell you. I think at this point I'm going to throw in the towel. I have a stupid amount invested in this bike, including Legend Suspension ARC rear shocks, Dark Horse Comp, and many other parts. I think my time is better spent on eBay recovering some $ than chasing down this gremlin further.
Thank you for all the feedback and thoughts
