Default Access for Tender Pigtail

2020 RG Limited FLTRK

I was surprised to find that the PO had not installed battery tender connector. I considered that perhaps there was a factory installed connection but nope. I looked in the usual spots searching for what would be pretty obvious under the seat or fed into either side cover. Nothing. Looking at the spaghetti under the seat and seeing what must be the battery cover ("warning" sticker), nothing feeding out that I could see. I also looked under each side case wondering if there was an outpost positive terminal but nope.

So...once the two front tabs (circled) are freed, what's the next step to free that cover? It is TIGHT on there. I assume I'll find the battery buried in there so I can attach the ring terminal ends.

Of course, if I'm missing something, please LMK.

The last RG I had was a 2016 (IIRC) and this 2020 seems to be much more crowded under the seat.

You bike left the factory with a factory installed tender connector under the left side cover below the main fuse.

See #1 in the pic below.
#2 is a slot that the connector can be routed through in order to access without removing the side cover.

Ah ha! This IS a tender? I thought it was a diagnostic port.

On closer examination, it looks like mine doesn't have it. From my reading, it sounded like not all bikes had the tender connection. Am I wrong?

The plug you have circled in Red is not the tender plug.

Looks like someone has moved the actual tender plug to rest outside of the cover.
See it circled in Yellow.

Ha! Dang, well at least my semi-blind picture served its purpose after all. Thanks man!!

Seemed very odd it wouldn't have one. I appreciate it.

There's plenty of slack in the factory tender cord to move it outside of the side cover.

I've had mine tied straight down the last 200,000 miles. Easy access for me.

Yeah, and I've got a bunch of wires running around the bags to feed some custom light bar-style turn signals as well as installed crash bars protecting the bags so requires some puzzle twisting to get the side case off...but I got it. It's just to get the line and feed it outside of the side case foe easy access. Why the PO didn't do that is beyond me.

Looks like it may have been laying up by where the seat strap comes across and fell down at one time. Just put it back up there and it will be easy to get to.
