That locking bar link comes back on a JIMs # 2316 locking bar for a 4 or 5 speed FXST when I hit the link.... That won't fit your bike...

OP, the locking bars come in different lengths for various transmissions, & primaries.

I bought a set of 5 different sizes, several years ago. I think it was before the M8s came out. They were for 4, 5, and/or 6 sped trans, for Dynas, Touring, and/or Softails:

5.625" - '07+, 6-speed FLHR, FLHX, FLHT, FLTR
5.950" - Late 6-speed FLH
7.125" - '06+ Dyna & '07+ Softail
7.601" - 5-speed FXR/FLT
8.500" - 4-speed/ 5-speed FXST

I have not needed to use a locking bar on my new-to-me M8 touring bike. I haven't had the opportunity to even try any of the sizes I currently have, to see what may fit, on my M8 touring primary.

A search found that "Google AI" said the the M8s take a 5.625" - 5.950" locking bar, but we all know how inaccurate Google AI can be...

OP, make sure you get the right size for your 2018 M8 Touring bike....

Hopefully some one can give us the exact size needed.....

This is how they are used...

PS- I found a JIM'S Tools locking bar, #2320, for an M8 Softail, but I couldn't find its size. It also doesn't say for an M8 FLH, so I would think it wouldn't fit.

Again, "Google AI" says it 8.25" long. If true, I doubt that will work on an M8 touring bike, but I really don't know...

They are all over ebay and amazon. The proper one for your bike is 5.95 inches.

Amazon Amazon

Video that kinda, little bit, not really shows how you use the bar:

I might add, the locking bar in the picture is positioned for tightening the comp bolt. It must be oriented with front end lower and the back end higher for loosening the comp bolt. You would probably figure that out very quickly, but this might save a little early frustration.

Default Update

Ok, finally got the Torx bolt and the nut to break loose. Took a 2 foot long breaker bar and a 6 foot long cheater pipe. Now I seem to have a new issue. got the gears and plates off the, but every time I try to pull off the (Rotor?) it'll slide out to about 1/2" from the end of the shaft and just stop. It feels like something is blocking it from coming completely off and if I let go, it just pulls itself back in. The clutch pack won't even budge. I can't see any sort of retainer around the shaft so I'm a bit at a loss. Not wanting to just start banging on things so I'm in here asking. What am I missing?

The clutch assembly should slid right off. Maybe someone over torqued the clutch nut and it mushroomed the steel positioning washer?

As far as the rotor goes, I thought they slid out.. Maybe the inner primary has to be removed (or cut) like the 6 speed TCs.

I'm the only one that's ever worked on it besides Harley, and this is the first time I've had to dig into it like this.so I don't see how it could have gotten mushroomed. From what I've seen in all the video's I've watched both should just slide off, but they aren't.
