I thought the RG had the 12 inch shocks. Where the RGS had the 13 inch shocks.

Lowering a motorcycle used on the road should be the last resort. It adds lots of limitations in corners.

From a quick search, some of the specs list a 2023 RGS as having 12" shocks, but it seems in the real world they did come with 13". Previous to 2023, the RG and SG Specials came with 12" shocks and the regular models came with 13".

Both 12 or 13 inch will work.

If you are vertically challenged I get the need for 12 inch.

Otherwise I would not consider them.

One of the first upgrades I did on our 21 SGS was go to 13 inch.

Proper adjustment based on load and conditions is a must for any shock. Unless you and a passenger are on the larger side you probably would not bottom out.

0n 2023 and earlier, the specials and st models came with 12" rear shocks with 2.1" of travel, the limited models always had the 13" shocks with 3" of travel. In 2024, Harley moved all touring bikes to 13" shocks with 3" of travel. If you have a 2023 RGS, it came from the factory with 12" shocks unless someone swapped them out already.
