Default Changing Wheel Sizes Questions

I"ve been thinking about putting some new wheels on my '08 SG. How much "riding performance" and safety is compromised by going with 18' and 21" wheels? I'm under the assumption that the more rubber touching the road, there better.I'm thinking about going with 18's on the front and back.

Having run both the 18" and the 21", IMO the 18" rides and handles better. With that said I have a 21" on my bike now.

Here's my experience with this. I had 18's on both ends on my RKC, and I have 21/18 on my RG

18/18 - A slightly stiffer ride than 16/16, far better handling

21/18 - Slightly stiffer ride than 18/18, slightly less handling than 16/16

Personally I love the looks of the 21/18 and for the type of riding I do they are perfect. I don't charge into corners and try to keep up with the sport bikes. I am willing to live with a stiff ride.

Im thinking 18's would handle better. Ive had a 19 on the front n 16 on the back on my street bob then went with a 21f 18 rear......the front was a big difference, but I got used to it. Then I sold her and bought me my streetglide. right out the bat, i got me a 21f, 18r. Havent regretted it since. Looks killer too.

As for asthetics IMO, 18 front and rear unless you have a RG. The RG is the only one that I personally like the stance of a 21/18 combo.

As for handling.........18F/18R.

All the bikes on here are gorgeous, but I just like the 18/18 on anything but a Roadie.

I like the better ride with my 18's on my bike. I personally don't like the look of a 21 wheel on a bagger but get what you like.

alot of people go with 18"s for the comfort...you can defenitly feel a difference with 21" but I think the great looks outweighs the slightly difference in comfort and handling...i run a 21/16 myself
