For those interested I have posted some pics in my photo album of my bike with the new fairing installed. Sorry about the quality, I had to use the crappy camera here at work and I was trying to rush it.
That's a good looking accessory, man! Never would have thought the batwing would integrate so well... Is that one of the ones that is quick detachable? I like the batwing with the soft-side bags, and I bet it would work well with the leather Tour Pac too.
The TUNES man, the tunes. Actually it does change the ride quite a bit. Definitely less wind turbulance even compared to the stock windshield. Hopefully it will help cut down on the direct wind to the hands so my fingers don't get quite so cold. Biggest thing I had to get used to was not having the same view as the stock setup since I can't see the road directly in front of me. Not a bad thing - just different. I love it and seriously doubt it will be getting removed that often even though it is a quick detach. But at least I have the option and it changes the whole look of the bike. It's nice having the different options.
I had all kinds of stuff that I SHOULD have done this past weekend but I figured "what the heck" and used Saturday and Sunday to paint the fairing and install everything. I used Friday as the obligatory work on house day.
Actually I use DuPont paints when I do customers jobs. They have a factory pack color that is a very deep black - Super Jet Black - that matched the HD Vivid Black. I had some in stock from when I painted the wifes car. The fairing NEEDED to be painted even though the gelcoat comes black it is a faded black and needed some work to the outer edges of the fiberglass.
CHEYENNE: I agree 100% on the shorty. I had plans of getting both a taller clear windshield and a shorter smoked one. After riding it today the 7" that's on it now did a fine job in deflecting the wind. So looks like I will start searching for a good smoked shorty for when the warmer weather rolls around.
