Default Warranty............again

Yes its a broken record again, but I need to ask one more time. I just put on my 2.0 Rush slip-ons. I got my Ness Big Sucker in the mail today. I'm going to go ahead and order a V&H Fuelpak before the end of the week. So when I put on the Fuelpak it won't cause any warranty problems?

Default RE: Warranty............again

how much is your warrenty worth to you? What did your dealer say? I think its bs but bought my parts online and let dealer install following there advice and aprovel. Thats the way it went down. Now everone here may say something different witch depending on there personal exp. and situation may be right. I also look at it as there is little I let the dealer do on my bike so wtf threw them a bone to keep them happy?

Have you read this? http://www.dynosources.com/dept.asp?d_id=203&l1=203The first part protects you from a dealer denying a warranty claim. Ask them, and if they say it will, and you are concerned, simply remove the fuelpak before going to the dealer. Either way, you have this federal law to protect you.

Dealers can be funny about warranty. There are two dealers here within a few miles of each other. Each will put on a V&H fuel pack or pcIII when you change pipes and a/c. Each will cover you if you bought the bike from them and or they installed the fuel management device. They won't, or say they won't, cover you if the bike came from the other dealer or the other dealer installed the fuel managemenet device. It's just a little pizzing contest they have going on.

Even some of the engine/exhaust items bought from your dealer can "adversley affect your warranty" - says so right on the box. We all take our chances anytime we modify a stock car/bike/whatever. Worst case scenario is you're stranded in the middle of now-where and something comes loose in the engine. You're then at the mercy of a dealer who may deny a warranty claim if he decides. Case in point - perhaps your Fuel Pak causes your engine to go too lean and suffers enough damage to require an engine replacement - it's a real touchy area with HD if you haven't used their stuff - and, even then, did the dealer set things up properly - if not, it's the dealer's problem - who may be 500 miles from your current location. It does get complicated - dammit - why doesn't HD make that engine turn out 85 HP from the get-go? Guess we all know THAT answer!!

I dont know either way. However,I see people say all the time sayto just remove the fuel pak or pcIII and take it into the dealer. I would only do this if i had a stage 1 download installed. The SE catalog tells you over and over a recalibration is needed to not damage the engine. They say to ask you dealer for details. I am not saying you have to use an HD recalibration but I do think if you have done a stage 1 upgrade to the A/C not doing some form of recalibration either HD or aftermarket would void the warranty on the engine. However, if you have an ecm failure having it installed may void that part of the warranty.
