Here's the deal buy an Ultra this week without ABS or order one with and wait till who knows when to get it??
Thoughts never owned a bike with it yet!

If I had the option to get it, I would jump on it. Dunno if you have something to ride in the mean time or not, but think of it this way.... If they save ya from sliding out sometime next summer (or anytime for that matter) they will have been well worth the wait.
I recently went to a National level MotorCops competition and talked with one of the guys thay had ABS. He told me he could be on the highway,@ 70+ MPHand give the bike 100% brake and it would stop quick, strait, & smooth. I also watched the competition and you could see clear as day that the bike w/ABS could stop much better & quicker at the end of their timed runs (as they blasted past the finish line).
I would wait, months if necessary, for the right bike with ABS. My biggest concern is high siding the bike by applying too much rear brake, having the rear slide, then releasing the rear brake--in an instant I'd be ejected from the bike. ABS, to avoid locking the rear tire, is reason enough for me to get it. JMHO, of course.
I traded my Deluxe for the 08 Ultra. Took it out on it's maiden voyage last weekendand at the end of the day SundayI decided to test them and really lay into them doing about 50 mph. It freaked me out, I thought I was going to go through the windshield and it stayed straight as an arrow. I never would have done that unless I had to on my Deluxe for fear of getting squirrely and losing it. I'd spend the extra $ and wait if I had to.
My vote - No to ABS. I have absolutely no interest in owning a bike, or car, for that matter, with ABS. But if you fall off your bike and believe ABS would have saved your ***, don't blame me.
I may have to downgrade to the Classic to get the ABS I need!! [:@][:@]
