I don't feel that answearing a person that is new to this forum in a smarta@$ way, is helpful or humorus in any fashion. Elrod came in and asked a simple question, and MR GOD tries to make him feel like he was stupid for asking the question and that is called humor? Lp i do understand where you are ccomming from, so i am no way directing any negativity toward you.

The '08's were designed completely different than any other year in Honda Davidsonhistory. They threw away the mold after making the '08's. Every year pales in comparison to the '08's. They are more quiet and faster than the Goldwings. Honda Davidson took bits and pieces from the Knucklehead, Panhead, Shovelhead and came up with the D!ckhead for the new bikes............run out and get one. Maybe you and your friend should consider Metrics? Better yet, go buy a pre-07 bike, I hear they are worth THOUSANDS $$$$ more than even the new '08's MSRP......
Why don't you go ride one, then decide?
Hey elrod, any time you have a question just address it to ULTRAKLASSDIC, because he must be GOD.
Lighten up harleybuilder. My reply was a play on the topic that causes the most controversy, that being '07 bashing related to noise. If you didn't get it, move on. elrod56, the originator of the thread was a bigger sport about it..........shhheeesh. Can't wait till winter gets here and cabin fever sets in. This place is gonna be fierce...

Right, got it (wink-wink) Thank you for allowing me to be dismissed.
Something doesn't sound right.................. I'm spending 23k on a bike, haven't rode tested one, but heard a friend say he thought the tranny made noise. Harley must just love these customers. Can I pay OVER MSRP too ?
Hey guys, I was nearly about to trade my '05 1200C in on an '07 RKC today but checking out the forum earlier this week put the brakes on that. I see that the '08's have the IDS installed but does anyone knowif the extreme heat problem on the 07's continued to 08? 'Seems like the only fix wasaftermarket exaust. That, and any pros and cons about the bike would be appreciated.
The heat problem will NEVER go away as long as it is air cooled and the EPA has anything to do with it. Passing up an '07 because of what you read inhere is foolish.
Two different problems with the 07s. Whine and Clatter.
HD installed a vibration damper in the rear sprocket for 08...namely the IDS. This IDS pretty much removed the "clatter" (metal banging noise) that some of the 07s had.
BUT... most of the08s I've heard still have the gear whine in 5th gear. Nothing to get upset about...
Get that 08 or get an 07 that someone is fed up with and install the IDS. It'll be a new bike after that.
IDS cost like 200 bucks...
Either way, you win. Great bikes.

Thanks for the info guys, the one that said his was noisy was an 07 so i guess Harley has improved it for 08.
Well, I figured it was at least worthresearching it more. Going into the deal blindly would've been foolish. But, Iagree, you can only do so much withair-cooling.
