Bus Er???
I rode a buddy's bike today to see these these symtoms. The screen showed Bus Er... The alarm key came on, as well as the battery light and check engine light. The gauges (speedo and tach) started dancing and then went down to "0" for a while and then back up to normal. What the he77 is going on?
Bike is a 07 SG 3,*** miles...VH True Duals, Arlen Ness Big Sucker, and PCIII.

A friend of mines bike does the same thing sometimes. It does not do all the things you said, but what it does do is the engine light comes on and the bike will not start. Pull the main fuse out, let set for 30 seconds it clears bus er and bike starts up with no problem. Even the dealership could not tell him what it means. The only explanation i could find was that it was a mis-reading in the ecm.
Bus error.
The data bus has bad connections somewhere or a relay or switch is making poor contact. Could be in the wiring harness or in the ECU, or any one of the other modules. The fact that it gets the indication to the speedo is marginally encouraging.

I just bought a supplement 12Volt power point soI could charge my cell phone on the road. I conected it to the power source undeer the seat. When I plug in I get no power but do receive a bus er signal. I have a 2006 Road King Custom. I checkd fuses and they seem fine. When I unplug or turn starter the bus er goes away. Not sure what I did wrong unless I have a bad part?
I had that message on my 06 Glide (at first the message appeared and the bike just shut down). After much research that error code can mean a plethora of things...almost too generic in you ask me. Turns out the dealer found a short in the fairing near the radio. They fixed the short and the message never came back. A little suspicious to me as I had the dealer install a wireless antenna when I first bought it and something tells me it was with their install.

Did you figure this out? I just bought the same thing to power a GPS and when I connect the GPS power cord I get "BUS ER". Unplugging it resolves the issue. I do get 12V power from the power point as long as the GPS power cord is not plugged in.

I had this same problem,It was due to a bad connection at the ecm . Check under your seat the connector to the ecm sometimes will partially unplug due to the riders seat contacting the plug. Fixed mine with a couple of cable ties. Hope this helps
