Default Fairing Mirrors Removal

Does anyone know how much trouble it would be to go back to handlebar mirrors from fairing mirrors. Just wondering about what size holes will be left and how many of them. I'm planning on painting the inner fairing so if you can fill in the holes the bodywork won't have to match the black matt. Maybe you can't fill the fairing material.

I'm not sure but I bet a good body shop guy would know? If you don't know one I can try to ask a couple I know this week.

Just curious what it is you don't like about the fairing mirror? I was actually thinking of looking on ebay for a set.

Let me know if you would like for me to ask one of the guys that I know about filling the hole?

Don't pull 'em 'til your ready to paint the fairing. I'm not sure how many holes it leaves, but a good bodywork guy can fill 'em with a little fiberglass matting and prime it over and paint the whole thing without issues. As silly as it might look, I'd try sticking the handlebar mount mirrors on the bike before pulling the others, just to see how you like them. View is different, look of the bike is different, etc.

Good luck, and don't forget to post pics of the painted inner.

Don't sweat the inner fairing. You can buy them on ebay for next to nothing. People are selling them all the time. I like the mirrors on the handlebars myself. I have rode both types of mirrors and I like the handlebar mounted ones better. I get better visibility and there are so many options for mirrors.

Good luck.

You should have four (4) holes per side. Three bolt holes and one pivet hole. You can see from the spacer in this eBay ad.

You will have 3-3/16" holes and 1-1/4" hole on each side. Any body person can fix the holes without a problem.

My question is WHY? The fairing mirrors let me see as good as the stem mirrors, and they really make the bike look clean.

Regards,

Bill

Why take mirrors off? I changed out handlebar mirrors for fairing mirrors. Vision increased considerably. Wide angle view, much better than stock. Looks sleeked also. Three 3 3/16" holes and 1 1/4 hole are in each side of fairing. Can be filled with fiberglass or plastic bondo and repainted, never know they were there. Good luck.

I'm a big guy, I need to move the bars up a little higher than most people to stretch my arms out. I'd like to move them a little higher than they are now but that will impead my view. The bars are much higher now than they are in the picture. In the future I may try a different set of bars, if the mirrors in the fairing don't work out I don't want to have holes in my freshly painted fairing. I like the look of the fairing mirrors , but , may have do eliminate them for safety sake.

And they come in different colors so you can have the exact color you want.

I love my fairing mirrors but I under stand if you push the handle bars up you will need to change your mirror. Bill And Mike is correct I just got my fairing mirrrors chromed. It's look really good.
