Okay I just came across a 2001 Ultra, 16,000 miles mint condition, I couldn't even find a scratch on the bike, stage one, screamin eagle pipes, lots of chrome, he wants 13,000. This is under book, he just bought a 2006 custom and doesn't want the 2001. Is there anything with this year that was a problem, I am still shoppin and was wondering. Thanks
Doesnt have the cams yet for the rear wheel, doesnt have the Delphi ign, uses Magnetti Marelli ign. By the way, I have a new sert for this setup. I dont know if this was info you were looking for, but.....
If you like it, buy it. But, I am not sure, with the current market, if 13k is a smoking deal, but again, if you love the bike, it shouldn't matter. IMO
FWIW a couple of months back I gave $10.5K for an 02 Ultra with a 95" Stage 2 and some other goodies (trickle charger, liners, passenger pegs etc.. No extra chrome) 40K miles but only 4K on the rebuild. Only issue was the overheating Main C/B which I fixed with a Mega fuse.
I like it a lot!
As Papa says, if you like it, buy it. Use the soft market as negotiating point.
Thanks for the info, I was just shoppin around and seeing what is out there, I guess 10,500 would be a smoking deal around here, so I am still looking, my wife told me to be patient. She told me I have never owned a new bike. I have never owned a Harley before and she felt I should wait to get a new one, how lucky am I.
Our master mechanic (HD mech for 33 yrs) refers to the '01 fuel injected models as disasters. We called the injection system the "macaroni" injection system. Really check it well - like, drive it 2-300 miles before you plunk any money down. Personally, I'd pass.

Please email this guy's contacts so I can avoid him. Anybody who thinks one of the world's leading producers of EFI systems for cars and motorcycles are disasters is someone I'd like to avoid. My builder has set up many of these with well over 100 hp without issues, and I ride with a several different people who also own these bikes, not to mention the acquaintances at other rides, dealerships and rallies. There are no issues from stock through Stage III that were EFI related. I've not met anyone who researched the EFI issue more than I did, before I put down my hard-earned money. We would all have converted our MMs over to carburated systems years ago if that was the case. The MM EFI critiques are myths that refuse to die. Ask the man who rides one!
I have a 2001 FLHTPI and did pipes and breather on it. It took a dyno run and some fine tuning after with the Powercommander software and it is now running great. The only issue I have (and have been told by dealer that this is a small problem) is that at times the idle is off (to low) It seems to do it more when damp and cold but it does clear up after a while!!
