I bought a deep bezzel trim ring for my Electraglide and it won't fit, I mean there is a space that's not took up, like the ring is to big, I don't get it,I think the part # is right, I looked it up and seems right.
If someone might know why it seems like it wrong please let me know.
Bump,,,, c'mon now, somebody surely someone can help, on the instructions it says to slip the new ring over the stock on, when I do there is space between the bulb and the new ring, this can't be right.
I know what you mean the one I have fits nice at the bottom but has a big gap at the top, it really angers me. The guy at the stealership said "maby it the way the actual headlight is" What ever.
I had the same doubts that you are having when I did my bike lights. Remember that when you slip the new ring over the old one, it is probably going to scratch the hell out of the old one so be sure you want this as a permanent mod. Good luck!
Also, that gap you are seeing around the bulb varies with different style bulbs. I have a 1/4 inch gap around mine. Bulb alignment will also change this gap.
I have the same problem with mine. I bought that new "visor" style trim ring and I have the same 1/4 inch gap at the bottom. I tried loosening the original ring and it seemed to help a bit, but I still have not closed the gap. What I decided to do is to get the "aluminum" duct tape (very shinney) and cut it to just cover the gap. Looks pretty good....you have to get close to really see whats going on.
Another issue I had was a "whistling" sound as air went into the front of the ring. I used the foam weather stripping and linned the inside of the new ring to fix that.
The trim ring comes with a piece of mylar tape that is supposed to be filling the gap so that you don't have that much visible and to stop any sounds. If you don't have that tape....see the dealer and they should be able to get it for you from the Harley Parts websight. You won't be able to close the gap, so filling it is the only way to go.
Does anyone know if we would have the same issues with 69733-05 visor style trim ring? I already had these in the cart but I can create enough problems on my own without looking for some.
