Well, another lesson learned from the school of idiocy!!
I always make sure my bike is in nuetral and pull the clutch in before starting. Today I went to pick up
my bike after it had been in the shop for a while getting work done. Chalk it up to excitement, stupidness,
old age, or all of the above, I didn't do my usual check!!
The bike surged forward but since the engine didn't catch, it stopped after only a few inches. Lucky for me because
someone else had parked his bike in front of me. Double disaster!! Of course there was an audience watching
so we all got to "share" my pain with some laughs.
Lesson learned, ALWAYS check for neutral and pull that clutch in!!!!!!
Now you know why every other manufacturer, and the PD bikes, have a clutch/ ignition/sidestand down interlock system
All harleys now have clutch safety switch as of 07
blah [:'(] Harley is taking all the fun away. I enjoy a good laugh every now and again. Have you ever seen when the bikestarts in gear, man it is so freaking funny. [sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif]
Well, another lesson learned from the school of idiocy!!
Let he who is without sin (hasn't hit starter in gear) cast the first stone. You should fear not the wrath of stoning by non-sinners, my son.
Like you I always put my bike in neutral before switching off, thus theoretically cannot be started in gear, and as an '07 will not start in gear anyway. I installed '06 and earlier chrome levers without the switch boss, so the clutch-lever switch doesn't work. No big deal, as it just won't start in gear, period--with or without the clutch engaged.
