Does anyone know for sure that the 9 spoke black and alum. wheels on the 08 dressers are the same wheels as previous years. I have an extra set and want to add ids to the rear with a new tire and be able to change whole unit when needed. I like having another complete set on hand to ease tire buying and such.
Thanks guys, it seems there is no way to know for sure from any info avail. to the layperson. I may have to take the wheel to a dealer and try the ids right there. Its hard to imagine that moco would change the wheels and keep the exact look as prior years. Im thinking they must be the same.
I had the same idea; bought a "take-off" rear wheel from a trike shop so I'd have a spare unit ready for my next tire change. When I getthe IDS, I can do my own test on how much difference the "enhancement" makes for me.
Rear Wheel
07 / 9 spoke cast wheel part # 43299-02
08 / 9 spoke cast wheel part # 43402-00B
different part numbers.....has to do with bearings, spacers and spacer sleeve inside the wheel
same wheelpart number in 08 for bikes with or without ABS
front wheel same problem diff part numbers
07 / 43345-00
08 / 43493-00
Thanks for the input, but im wondering, some info i recd from a dealer service dept. indicates that the rear wheel part number for 07, 06, 05 and back is the same number. That being the case, how can moco under elbow grease program offer to pay labor to install ids on 07 with $100. credit for labor. That being said, what could be the diff. in the wheels??? Why couldnt someone with a set of wheels from older dresser, understanding that the sprocket will absolutely be diff, install the ids unit and be the same as what moco is willing to do for 07 owners? Im really confused by this.
you can use 02-07 rear wheels without an issue and they are interchangeable. The sprockets did change in 07 to a narrower belt.
08 is a different animal with the advent of the magnetically encoded wheel bearings for the ABS. Even if the bike doesnt have ABS the counter sinks in the bores of the wheels for the bearings might be different along with the thickness of the bearings.
In looking at the 08 parts manual....all the ids parts end in -08 where the ids retrofit for the 07 ends in -07.
I will look tomorrow and see if the individual parts in the -07 retro kit are the same as for the 2008.
