IDS for cheap
Ok.....I've contributed several opinions and read everything I could find on:
1) IDS
2) Gearing noises
3) Engine detonation
and after my last visit to Dallas Harley Davidson, my bike runs like a different machine.
This may not apply if you have add-ons but on a box-stock bike, ECM reflash 32903-07E solved all my problems. Apparently HD came out with a "Torque Smoothing" mapping that resolved most IDS issues without the expense of adding IDS to 2007's. However, most bikes "pinged" at higher engine loads after having it applied. This could be avoided by riding "gently" but what's the sense in having a motorcycle if you can't get on it once in awhile, I queried of my dealer. :-)
Initially the dealer didn't know about this but after contacting "the mothership", HD provided them with ECM reflash 32903-07E.
This is an upgraded (incremental) Torque Smoothing ECM flash, that made my 2007 Ultra a joy to ride. It runs like the proverbial "striped-assed-ape" now.
