By far the best money I've spent on my Street Glide.
I have always been happy with my 07, but IDS has made me like it even more.
Shifting is much smoother & the clatter is a thing of the past.
I didn't even know what the issue was till my mechanic pointed out the noise y'all were complainin' about when he was dyno tunin' it. I just figured it's a motorcycle, it's a Harley, it's gonna' make some noise.
So, what the hell.. another $300.. and the whole bike is even smoother and I can drop down to sub 2000rpm space and pull away without any clank or clatter. Also runs smoother throughout the range. Immediately noticeable and a definite improvement. Only thing that would have made it better would have been if it was cheaper.
I did the IDS last night and rode into work this AM. Talk about nice and smooth. 6th gear at 62-65mph and just putting along... made a huge difference. Only thing is how the hell did HD test this cruise drive for 100's of thousands of miles before putting it on the street??? The testers where deaf and wore full face helmets and hearing protection or what??? HD should have stepped up and given this enhancement to the 07's who wanted it... they did the "torque improvement" enhancement download last year for the new 07's... what the hell is the difference?
I repeat what the others have said. I wasn't that unhappy with the bike. Not too much clatter and the floorboard vibs were acceptable. Now, the IDS has reduced everything by 70-80%. WOW. Cruising is much smoother. The only thing 5th gives off now is a smooth whur. You still know you're in 5th, but without the torque clatter.
In some ways I support HD that this is an enhancement since my scenario didn't involve serious clatter. My addon was an improvement not a necessity. So far, it's the best $218 I've spent on the bike.
