I havent really looked real good as I have been installing speakers in the first place when I noticed these brackets, but how much trouble would it be to entirely remove them?? What does the other end attach to?
Mine were replaced last year on my '06 SG and just broke again this past week. I've got an appointment with the dealer this week to have them replaced AGAIN...
Surely to goodness somebody other than TR and a couple other guys have had this problem and have come up with their own ideas.......?????? Are you guys asleep at the wheel????
Are these the horizontal fairing brackets? If so mine have broken a total of 7 seven times! Also broke the verticals but repaired them myself.
HD WILL NOT do a permanent repair on the brackets, I've already tried to get HD engineering to fix the problem.
They're answer to me was: Did you upgrade your exhaust after you baught the bike? I said of course, most all us of have. They said that the extra vibration from after-market exhauts was causing this?
I call Bullsheeet on this one!
So I'm in the proccess of making new brackets that will use your old braket with a new peice that acts as a doubler that will be made of 301 half-hard stainless stell; I need to find someone in the Jacksonville Fl area that can do plasma cutting and I can have this produced at a fairly low cost...rivets and drill bits will be supplied.
I've posted this before but haven't gotten the fanfare of replys to move productionquicker than I already have. I've got one set made for my bike that will act as the test platform, so far so good!
I can supply pictures of the remanufacturedbrackets to anyone that's interested if you PM me and leave your email address.
Which supports broke? Horizontal or Vertical? I have a fix for the Vertical.
ACE hardware has aluminum flat stock that's about 1" wide and 1/16" thick.
I used this material and made 90 degree "L" brackets; then place them in postion and held with visegrips and drilled themup to fit, then installed self locking hardware.
These have worked for over a year and half. I have pictures here on line somewhere, if I find them I'll post.

I am anxious to know what you have......as I hate this damn annoying problem that just doesn't seem to go away.
Okay I will offer the same as Texasredneck. I am a retired welder/ fabricator. If I can get a set that is either cracked/broke etc... I can make a set. I have made many custom parts for guys/gals that are not available.
