I am picking up a new 2008 Ultra tomorrow. I know it comes with one headset and I have purchased a second for my wife. I haven't made a decision on a helmet yet. I currently have an Arai full face and I would like to stick with a full face helmet. My dealer says he thinks I have to go with either a 3/4 helmet or a flip up, he thinks the HD headsets won't work with a full face helmet. Does anyone know the answer or have some input? BTW my first Harley after riding BMW's for many years. Thanks
I use mine in a full face helmet but the mic is almost to big to fit between your helmet and your face. I'm going to get some 3/4 helmets for winter this year.
I installed mine in a full face not a flip face either. It works great but the mike's screen almost always touches my lips and is kinda a bother but I guess its worth it. You can bolt it on the left side and justrun the speakers under the ear pieces and try it. The mike has to go under the padding and be routed to the front. Thus the tight quarters for it. If it works try and position the ear pieces where they are comfortable before sticking the pad with the velcro on it down. Then stick the speakers on the velcro. Mine was a tight fit but feels ok after I got it positioned. Good luck
if you buy an hjc helmet, they make a couple of models that are already set up for the headset..... they have removable ear pockets for the 2 speakers.... I like the nolan hemet that has the J&M headset for harley's built in.... about 500.00 that is a full face flip up helmet....

My Ultra friends have tried the HD headsets with full face helmets, and most, if not all, have gone to J&M setups and the adapter cable that mates with the HD connector plug on the console and the passenger plug. One or two have gotten 3/4 helmets and put the HD headsets on them.
