Has anyone installed the crome wind deflectors that attach to the fork brackets? I am curious if they work at all. Also if anyone has some pictures so I can get an idea of how they look that would be great.
This is one of the best accessories I installed on my old RK, but unfortunately won't fit an SG, so I'm without until HD fabricates a set for this bike. They keep air from rushing up from the tank area and greatly reduce turbulence and noise. A must for touring, IMO.

Hi from up here in Ontario Canada where it is about to get a mite chilly. I too have been looking at these chrome wind deflectors for the forks but I have an 07 Street Glide and it was suggested to me by the dealer that the fork deflectors wouldn't fit properly. Anyone have them on an 07 FLHX? Do they mount and function properly?
I have the chrome deflector between the forks and Kuryakyn Dragon Wings on the fairing and a 6 1/2 inch windshield and theyall work nicely but I need to shut off the wind that comes up my leg and under the helmet.
The problem with the SG is the wired turn signals located where the deflectors would mount. To use them, you'd need to cut a slit in each deflector to allow passage of the wires, or relocate the turn signals. I have two or three old sets here and have been tempted to do some hacking to see if they might fit. The chrome mounting hardware on the bike is a different shape than the traditional EG/RK items, and the deflectors might also need to be trimmed on the edges, as they are squared while the bike's hardware is rounded. I may start thinking about this project again.

If you have lowers on, at full lock, they will just touch and you need to do some creative bending.
There are two things to adjust. No need to do any bending. First, the bottom hole in the deflector is slotted, so you can move them forward to keep them from touching the lowers. Secondly, if you move them forward, they may hit the back of the turn signals. If that happens, re-loosen the bolts, and slide the brackets forward that the spot lights mount on, and you will find that there is PLENTY of clearance. Now, after doing all that (which takes about 5 minutes) you may have to readjust your spot lights, because they will now be tipped up.

When I took mine off this spring, one edge on each side had left a mark in the underlying chrome on the spot light bracket. Pizzed me off big time. I would put a piece of tape under them before mounting to prevent that from happening.

Before mounting them, go for a ride at 60mph and drop your hand down to your side, and move back and forth, and find where the wind comes rushing back onto your bike. You will probably find it right behind the driver, which would be your passenger! Now, put the deflectors on, and go test. The wind doesn't come back against your bike until way back along the saddlebags. They work! And, as the previous posted said, get the fork baffle as well to stop that cold wind coming up from under the front of tank.

Note the picture below to see them.

Dan, you don't possibly have yours on backwards? The outside edgeis bentforward, not back.

I wonder if the deflectors will work if a street glide has the custom mounted passing lamps, which relocates the turn signals.

Sure would like to know if a bit of trimming will make the deflector fit the street glide! Sounds like if a slot was cut to allow the deflector to fit around the wires and under the chrome turn signal bracket on the fork, then it just might fit!
I was out for a 2 hour ride today and it is getting pretty cold!

I put a set on my bike. They helped the air flow quite a lot. Ilike that they push the air out to the side enough that you don't have to holdyour knees in a speed. They also helped get rid of most of the helmet flutter. Haven't noticed any increase in heat from the engine.

I had a pair on my RK when I bought it. I didn't really like the look but it did cut the airflow very well. I took them off for the summer but I'll probably put them back on in the winter to cut down on the cold draft.

That's not the way they are pictured on the H-D website. Check the link aboove.
