Anyone put the Black jugs and heads on a silver engine? Does it look okay or seem out of place?
When I decide to punch mine out I was thinking of painting mine. I guess powered coat would be the best bet?
Gives it that OLD SCHOOL LOOK....
Powder Coating would be the best way to go.... And if ya want to go ALL OUT - do a matching color to your bike then polish out the fins.... Have seen it done on many bikes - I like the Color Matched Look....
Rev,
The black top end on the silver bottom looks great! SolCal is right about color matching and/or polishing the edges of the fins but if you go with polished fins do that first. Polishing out the fins before getting them powder coated makes for a much more professional looking job. If you get them diamond cut, instead of polished, the powder coating comes first.
The other way to go if you aren't gonna bore your existing jugs and say bought the HD big bore kit would be just to buy the set-up in black.. I have no idea which way would be more cost effective.. boring/PC'ing versus buyin new... But I've seen a few RG's done up this way and it looks really good.. The ones I've seen also had every possible piece of chrome covering on the cases so you could barely see the silver anyways... But I think the contrast would be pretty cool..
I have seen one like that. The jugs were black with cut fins. Looked awesome from my seat. I personally love black, so I am predispositioned I guess. I like the old school look to it. As fishafly noted, the case was well covered in chome on the one I saw as well. The guy had a lot of black and chrome and a beautiful yellow paint job. The contrasts were really eye catching. It was a std RK.....sweet looking ride.
I have the natural/silver motor with all the natrual switched to chrome. I was thinking when I get the juggs bored having them powder coated flat black and leave the heads natural. Would give it that old look and standout from the black/chrome crowd.

What about a black bottom and silver jugs? Anyone have any pictures of this. I am going to buy a set of jugs that are from a rg, and was wondering how it might look with the bottom of the engine in black???? Anyone???
