Default Ride choices

Ok never mind my screem name as I have been on the fence for touring or just a ride for around town. This is what I have been doing all summer other than riding my friends machines I rented a NightRod(twice), Heritage Deluxe, StreetGlide and last a RoadKing. I took all of these on 200 to 400 mile rides. Of course for tooling around the NightRod was awsome..Heritage seemed a little low and small for me, StreetGlide with full dressing was the most apealing..but then when I experienced the difference of ride on the RoadKing I could not believe it. It was explained to me as the 1" lower ride height of the StreetGlide caused the variation in ride quality..hmmm? Is this true? My understanding is the Ultra, RoadKing, RoadGlide all have the same chassis.
The RoadGlide will be my choice over the StreetGlide for the ride quality umless is can be made to match...any thoughts?

Thanks

Takes 10 minutes to swap 12" Street Glide Profile shocks to stock 13's. They go real cheap on eBay. Go Street Glide if you like the styling.

What you were told in both cases is correct except if you put on the low profile touring shocks you will duplicate the bad ride on any touring model. Except for the low profile windshield the styling on the street glide will be lost by raising it to the higher setting. So the question is ? Styling? Then go SG. Comfort and handling? Go with the regular suspension.

So the difference in the set ups is "just'" the shock length?
Will aftermarket 12" shocks improve the ride enough to keep the lowered ride height?

Shock options, lowering kits, air-ride, endless combos & possibilities.

I put on the prgressive 440 13' shocks which raised my bike and 1 inch. It improved the ride significantly along with a "true track". The only time you notice it is "a little higher" it when it is sitting. But if you ride you won't be looking at it.

I do not own a RoadGlide, but I would imagine the front end would feel smoother as the fariing is not attached as opposed to the Street Glide..I plan to add Gold valve emulators to the front fork suspension soon. Having said all that I really like my Street Glide.

Funny,I was just looking at the 440's when you posted. I love the look of the SG but my buddy swears by the RG for highway cruising....

Thanks for the input fellas...
