Does anyone know if the stock license platebracketfrom a SG will work on a EG? I would think that it just mounts underneath the turn signal bar? Has anyone done this before?
Will work but not a simple process.I have a friend with an Ultra that likes the arrangement and SG fender so muchthat he spent over a thousand bucks to change out the whole rear fender. No accounting for some peoples taste.
It will work. I have done this conversion for the look on a FLHR (RK Standard). Everything comes in a kit for the conversion. The problems I encountered were: 1- The kit comes with yellow bullet rear lights. I had pancake lights on the front. I had to purchase a seperate light kit with all bullet lights (4)for the frt. light replacement. HD does not sell a kit with just the front bullet lights. If you decide to match the frt lights with the rear, you will need to remove the headlight to get to the light plugs and to route the wiring.2- I was using the rear run, signal , brake light module for the rear turn signals. I had to purchase another set of red bullet signal lenses for the rear.
Looks awsome but the conversion turned out to be expense. I did the work myself so I saved alittle there.
Hope this helps in your decision.
If you are just asking about the license plate frame mount on the SG (and not converting to a SG facia), the part no. is 60089-05: this mounts beneath the turn signal barassembly. There is also a lower portion that attaches to themount to attach the license plate using the lower two holes in the license plate: it's part no. 53782-04. The lower portion attaches to the mount usingsome nuts and bolts.
I used the HD kit that includes the turn signals, etc. when I did mySG rear fender installation. The part numbers are from the kit breakdown included with the installation instructions.
I have the parts list and diagrams of the rear fenders that show exactly what you need if you need it. Drop me a PM if you do. I priced it out and it would be less than $100 for the conversion.
Not to hijack, but I just installed a CVO rear fender on my Street Glide. I have the stock tail light assembly and tag mount that I would be willing to sell. PM me with an offer if interested
I also have the Tag light and mount for the stock CVO that I didn't use. Went with a Yaffe Stealth III.
