Default Oil filter

How tight should the oil filter be, is hand tight good enough?

As tight as you can get by hand is plenty, that way you'll have no problems removing it next time.

There seems to be a very small dot of oil on the ground everytime I warm the bike up. I think its some residual oil from when I removed the old filter and spilled a little but i'm a little concerned. I can't see any leaks anywhere.

Turn until the gasket seats, then add 1/4 turn. That is roughly hand tight. That should work great.

Didja lube the gasket/oring first, or put it on dry. Ya should always wipe it with a dab of fresh oil afore installin'....

Yeah I did, but I also spilled a little when I removed the old filter, I really hope that is it.

Brinks, it must be drainage from when you pulled it off. I always spray simple green in the area below the filter when I'm done and hose it off.
