I keep reading where the economy is down, and people are not spending the money they use to. And there are countless facts to back this up. However, I work in the casino business, and if there is an economic slump, no one bothered to tell the gamblers. Regardless of what people are now bringing in, they still seem to have no trouble finding money to spend on things they really want. JMHO.

My .02 worth. In the past year, my neighborhood has gone from having only a couple of bikes, to bikes in every other garage. I think that the American market is just getting saturated by all the manufacturers. So harley starts exporting to make up the difference. Remember they can't take a bike off the showroom floor in Atlanta and send it to London. With they dollar weak they could increase their overseas market share. It's the old "don't keep all your eggs in one basket" mentality.

In our dealership I'd say the average age is probably 35,I'd say the motorcycle that brought the younger customers in is the nightster and they've seen the "other" models and sales and customer basegrew from that. Our most popular model has been the Street Glide and average age for that bike has been 30-35 area,don't get me wrong we still have 45 and up crowd in the shop but the young outweighs the old. I think it may have to do with our young sales staff also.
