Did you remove the Grab rail/ fender strut support, did it affect your ride?
Is it better to just cut the bar off or remove it all together?
Althoughkeeping thebar will addstrengthin the upper structure, it does nothing for the handling of the bike and is completely un-needed.
The fender struts, fender, saddlebag mounts etc are more than enough to keep the rear end together.
Additionally, the swingarm is not attached to the rear fender. If someonethinks the bike handles "squishy" or "sloppy" after removing this bar, it means this personmust have a huge *** and needs to put the bar back on pronto, before their *** breaks something!

Softails although a slightly different design completely hang the rear end by the two fender struts. You can put a tour pack, saddle bags etc and HD does not include a "bar" to hold it all together.
FBI bikes, customs etc. using the stock HD frame do not retain the bar and work fine.
The same people who argue the bike needs this bar are the same people whoown a RideStr8 or True Track and are a more than normally concerned about bike wobbly-ness.
I have a full tourpak, saddlebags, and a stock frame with no True Track etc.
I weigh 230, wife weighs 160 and we have NO PROBLEMS running without the bar....at least for the last 10,000 miles fully loaded, packed to the max and running Deals Gap etc.
The bar is not needed...don't freak.

What I used was klockwerks curvacious upper fillers. Cost like 160.00 or something and they still need to be painted.
I painted mine with a HD spray can...cost 40 bucks. So I got like 200 bucks in it...
200 bucks is a lot I know...but I was just trying to do something a little different.
