Default Throttle/Idle cable (grip) problem???

I installed new grips several months ago (around March). The throttle/idle cables/grip were just right. No slack, not tight, just right. This weekend as we're tying down cables for tuning components, we noticed a cone shaped peice near the triple tree and we moved it. (we thought that was odd)...Anyway, when I went to test ride the bike I noticed the throttle/idle/grip was very loose/slack. alot of play. We instanly assumed it happened when we moved the cone shaped piece close to the triple tree.

we temporary move the cone shaped piece back to where it was and put a tie-tie on it so it won't move (keeping the throttle/idle/grip tight-normal) until we mess with it this weekend.

Way back in MArch we adjusted all the cables as the manueal required, but we never saw, or saw where this piece was mentioned in the manual. Hoepfully we can just go back and adjust the cables again when the cone shaped piece in the current postion.

Any one know the piece I'm talking about???? it has something to do with the cables.... thanks

I have an 06 Street Glide

The cone (right side frame neck) on the cable is wired, some type of sensor. Not sure what its function is.

I recall the sensor is for cancelling the cruise control if you twist the throttle while you have it enabled. (kinda the same way touching the brakes cancels cruise)
Moving the cone would mess with the throttle return cable adjustment, I believe. I think that's the return cable the cone straddles.

Nice rig ya got there Donny!

The cone is called the "roll off switch" and Numb is correct that it cancels the cruise control if you so have your scoot equiped with it. You need to make sure that the end of the cable that goes into the throttle body is seated in its respective sleeve because if there is too much slack that can sometimes come unseated. Start there, then make sure the roll off switch is properly attached and mounted (it doesn't matter which two wires go to which prongs) and then adjust your cable properly.
