I don't spend much time (anymore) staring or looking at my bike. So when it comes to spending $$$ on my bike the choices are safety, comfort, and performance--whatI see or feel riding the bike--hence the painted inner fairing and spun aluminum gauges, for example. Since the first two are done (if there is such a thing), I plan to do the HQ 95 package, and 3.37:1 final drive ratio--I will then go looking for SE CVO 103's, 110's, and poorly tuned 113's--not really, but if they blip their throttle we're good to go.
I say paint, reason why = my friend has got a custom paint job on his bike and he gets alot of compliments on it (big dog, mastiff) now we both know that bike will never be as comfortable ride as a touringharley like my ultra, but he still gets about a hundred more compliments on it than any of us harley guys in the group.
My vote paint,I agree with pappa cooter, I had a custom paint job on my last bike, ( off a moley hatch alblum)and I had sooooo many people complement me on how nice its was, and I loved that, if it runs good already, and it needs painted, Paint it.
I read this and was laughing my butt off since I am asking myself the exact same question. In a discussion with my buddy he told me, "when it's sitting still everybody will notice the paint and unless they know bikes they will never notice performance mods." I believe this to be true. However, who am I trying to impress? My answer is nobody but me so my vote goes to the performance mods. Now, let's see if that 's really what I do this winter
i agree with socalpappydo a fat tire kit and paint. I am also obsessed with the little blemishes on my bike so i can relate. instant gradification from the new looks will be more satisfying.
Look Fast Or be Fast, someonetells me nice bike I say thanks and smile, I grap a hand full and it all works right and I feelthat BIG V-TWIN pumping power to the pavement and I feel that awesome pull lifting the front tire, I have more than just a smile going on[sm=wootwoot.gif]My vote is for Engine Mods OH!!!, and a nice tail light for all the people behind you to look at!!! Paint it a bright color with lots of graphics or flames...tell the wife it is for safety and visibility..then do the motor...tell the wife it is for safety and ride/handling issues...My wife likes 'safety' upgrades, these's no end to them
