I would think that with the IDS the mileage would increase on the 07's.

Tires.....Has anyone had a problem with there rear tire needing to be replaced at 6,500 miles????
No, but got 10k out of my first rear. Keep pressure at 40 psi cold, maybe 42 if riding two-up or loaded; keep off the rear brake unless necessary; and go easy on the throttle when possible.

I would consider 6500 unacceptable, but I also think 10k is too soon. My next tire will be a Dunlop Elite 3, which reportedly last longer than 402's or Metzeler.

I usually get between 12,500 to 15,000 on my rear tires. Run pressure at 40# at all times.

If you find a tier that will give you much better mileage you will probably loose something else in the deal. Normally a tire that will give you much better mileage has a harder compound and will you less traction in the turns. Where as tires that get between 7,500 to 10,000 miles have a softer compound and will give you better traction in the turns. It is all about trade offs. To each their own I will stick with the dunlaps as they are an all around good tire.

I dont think your tire wear is out of line. You have to remember that you are riding a 800 lb bike. I have about 6500 on mine and probably will need a new rear tire at about 8000 or so.

I get 10,000+ miles on my rear riding 2 up almost all the time.....40 psi and check the air pressure regularly. I never got more than 6,500 out of anyMetzlers.

In town driving, gravel roads, agressive riding and tire pressure are major players with tire life.
