Default Stage I for EG

I just bought a new EG Standard & am contemplating the Stage I upgrade. What's a reasonable price for this? I want to keep the dealer honest.

thanks,
Mike

Mike,

Screaming Eagle air cleaner retails for about 149.00, and the down load if it is FI is about 189.00 if memory serves. The prices are in the 2006 HD catalog that is available at your local dealer. If it is a carb. bike, all you need is a jet change, and that can be done for 25.00 or so if you do it yourself.

If you have the dealer do this work, expect to pay about 75.00 per hour, and they are probably going to want 4 hours. It can all be done in two, except for the down load, if you are a little handy and have some tools.

Keep in mind that the Stage 1 does not include pipes or mufflers, and if you do not change the mufflers to something that is free flowing, you will not get much benefit from the upgrade. The price of all of HD's aftermarket pipes will be in the catalog also, plus there are a lot of aftermarket companies to choose pipes or mufflers from.

Hope this answers some of your questons.

Regards,

Bill

Bill,

That's perfect. Thanks for your help & I would definately put on slip-ons to free up the exhaust.

mwike, I also have a 06 EG and it was brought to my attention by a freind, our bikes came with those dang converters in the stock mufflers, so I think that the setup in the efi is actually pretty important on how your bike runs.
I have the 203 cams also but I do have the stage1 remap, SEac kit and a PCIII usb, with that said I couldn't be happier with the way my bike runs.
Get some good pipes or slipons also.

Just want to post a bit of info for you.
1. The StageI is for a MoCo/SE air clearner change only. If you do "pipes", you will still be lean!
2. Why do it at all? It's a dresser and not a hot rod!
3. If you start changing things to nonMoCo parts or you use MoCo parts that are not street legal and the work is not done by a factory trained tech in a dealership, you very likely will void your warranty.
Just food for thought.

Agree with the post just above...it's a Geezeglide scoot...not for streetlight stampedes. SE air package and slip ons, do the remap HD map and roll...it'll run a bit more peppy, smoother and still be a Glide...fuel mileage shold remain the same.

I have a hot rod F+XTSC EVO with heads, cams, pipes, ignition, etc. for the ruch days...but after the Ulytra...hey, I'd rather cruise to tunes and a little less wind up the nose!

LMAO @ above posts... Some people do like a little performance even if it is a bagger...DUH!!

Anyways..bypass on the HD Download it's GARBAGE..go with a programmer...SERT/PCIII etc.

Also you can buy the parts online possibly cheaper then thru a dealer unless they are selling for 20% off MSRP and do the install yourself.
