For some reason, when it comes to USB to serial adapters, the Tmax AND the SERT are phinicky. I use the Dynex DX-UBDB9 from BestBuy with no problem. Some people that use the ones from Radio Shack or others have issues.

Also, make sure the correct COM PORT is selected in the drop-down within the TMax program. Mine auto-selects with Windows Vista and WinXP Pro, but some have to manually select the comport..

frank1,
If you do not mind me asking where you picked it up and the cost? I'm think about going with one on my 06 Ultra and I'm looking around comparing cost. thanks.

Actually they are not all the same. Some USG to Serial have box built in, others are just straight cables. However, all require drivers to be installed. I am assuming that you have installed them. If you did and it is still not seeing the ECM, then (this is what I had to do) uninstall the Smartlink software for the Tmax, reboot (making sure the USB to Serial drivers are installed) and then re-install Smartlink. Seems that sometimes in the process if the handles to grab onto the USB were not there the first time, it won't go looking for them again. By the way Zippers price of $19 for the cable is good. RadioShack wants $45.

I got a super price on a Tmax from forum member shooter64. You can PM him.

BTW, I believe that you will need to have O2 bungs installed in your pipes. 06s don't have them. Maybe I'm wrong but you should check.

buy the ThunderMax from shooter64, no-one will treat you better. Zippers has a USB to serial adapter that they sell for less than $20 that works great every time
