The stage 1 combo is the best bet for dealing with the heat. It made a big difference with mine and it runs better to boot.
I would like to add my 2 cents here - I have the stage one up grade - I have the heat shields - I dyno'ed the SERT - running on the lean side - discussed with the dyno guy about the excessive heat - said I wouldn't gain anything if I re dyno'ed it - he is an indie and has a great rep - does dyno's for some of the other bike shops around here. wife complains that the heat is to hot on her left foot - so - the next thing I am going to do is add an oil cooler......JAGG - I am hoping this will help. I love the bike - I do ride fast - I cruise about 85 on the highway - gettting about 30 miles per gallon( 2 up) but I love the ride!!!!! I will trade it when they come out with the water cooled Ultra's in 2010.....
The Kuryakans pale in comparison to the RJ's and even the MOCO's heat shields. RJ's are the way to go. The Harley shields do the job well, but are really chintzy looking compared to the RJ's. Ask me how I know? Ha Ha. Eventually I will get a set of RJ's, but for now the heat issue is nonexistant on my Ultra.
"Well the bikes are that way because of government restrictions, believe me,they could build a much cooler running bike, louder bike, but the EPA,DOT,CARB are doing their best to put us out of business. So what we have to do as owners is make the needed modifications to make the bike what we want( spend money). It is what it is...... Don't blame the Motor Company...very soon these air cooled engines will be a thing of the past. Enjoy them while we have them."
How true...
But remember - Big Brother loves you and knows what's best for you!
