Although I haven't ridden behind it, I've put a 9.5" lgt smoke windshield on my EGS. Like the others mentioned, during the rain, I'd have to stretch to an uncomfortable, unstable position to see over the stock 12". After sitting on the bike with the new windshield, I think it's gonna be much better. If not, I just lost on that investment.

Correct me if I'm wrong but sometime back I believe I read 2" below your eyeline is a good place to start for windshield height. Could be enough to duck down when things get bad or stay above for normal cruising.

I can easily see over mine. Although, I have slumped down a bit to look through it, just to see the difference. I much prefer to look over it. If you have a half helmet, the wind will buffet your head, but a small pain in the neck is better than healing after a wreck because of glare or anything else that may happen looking through it, IMO.

I have both. Short shield for summerand tall shield for fall. I look through my tall14" winshield without any problems. If I sit up straighter, I can over top of it if need be. For me, dark tinted shields are very hard to see through. Iprefer clear onesto watch forroad hazards, i.e., pot holes, road gators chunks, bungy cords, through a clear shield.

Same here. The 15 inch that's on there now I look through with no problem. It really does need to be cleaned daily if you expect to see through it though.
