Looking thru windshield
Curious how many drive looking thru their windshield rather than over it. Seems like it would cut down on wind buffeting at 70+. Does it reduce your vision. What windshield works best for this? I'd like to hear from any of you that have experience with this. Thanks guys!

I have never been someone who could look through a plastic windshield - wearing a full face helmet plus the windshield can cause problems, especially at night. If you've ever been caught in a rain, again, especially at night, looking through the windshield makes things pretty tricky if you happen to get behind a semi throwing dirt, etc, all over the windshield. I always have to cut a stock windshield a couple inches in order to just see over the top. I have never noticed any increase in wing buffeting afterwards. My local glass company used to cut plastic windshields pretty cheaply, but, now it's about $30 to do it (I never tried it myself).
It'll feel more like riding a motorcycle if you're looking over the windshield, vice through it. There are plenty of good windshield designs that'll keep the wind out of your face and allow you to look over the windshield.

Let me go against the grain, I look through mine. I had a shorter one but the buffeting got to me, I ordered a tall boy windshield and if I really need to I can see over it but have found it to be especially good in the rain. Occassionally, I put some goggles on over my glasses adn still look through the windshield. I ride about 20 k per year so I ride in all kinds of weather. It doesn't seem to bother me but your results may vary

I used to look through, until I got caught in a day long rain storm. The water clings to the windscreen making visibility difficult. I found myself straining my neck to look over, and around. Sure my glasses got wet, but at least I could wipe them off with a finger or small towel. Now I ride with a lower windscreen height.
