I'd like to do the S&S 4.5" crank with 4" cylinders/pistons.
I had considered a 120", based on 4 5/8 x 4.060, but have decided against it simply based on piston speed& additional heat it "might" generate, because I do a lot of motorcops style course riding whichgets a stock bike pretty damn hot to begin with. If not for the course riding, I would be going 120.

If' you're looking at @ a 4 1/2 x 4, which requires case boring already, then why not go 4 1/2 x 4.060 for 116/117 (whatever it is)?

I believe I saw a question about the 4 1/2 x 4 on the HQ Techline. FWIW, doug does do the 120" config I referenced above.

Phil,
Who's crank were you talking about for the 120" build. I am not going there (really 113" is big enough ), but am curious what Doug recommended.

Shipped a set of heads to HQ today. Stopped at the local dealer and purchased an engine rebuild gasket kit and a primary cover gasket. Anyone doing this build, - the engine rebuild gasket set does NOT include the engine -transmission mating gasket. Remember to buy it separately.

Downside is that I always wanted a chrome inner primary, so while there, and figuring I would have it off for the rebuild anyway, I purchased that too. This build is already over budget ![:@] But I am really looking forward to the results !

Dalton, there is a HD Tech Tip for installing a chrome inner primary on the 2007 Big Twins if you are doing this build yourself. Let me know if you want it or not.

He recommneded talking to John @ Darkhorse about it, but mentioned S&S. I also know that Jim's has one.

Pretty certain 113" will be my route too....

It won't be after you ride it for awhile
