Default Anyone ever put reduced reach handlebars on

Has anyone put the bars on a Road King Classic? The parts book lists clutch cable, throttle/idle cable, a wire extender, and brake lines.

My question is; is it really necessary to replace all of these things?

BTW I can't get most of the part numbers listed in the book to come up on the HD web site.

I installed the Road King Chrome High Handlebars p/n 55954-00. They say they are for '96 - '01, but they worked fine on my '05 and several folks here have used them. No cable or wire changes. Fit perfect and look great.

Good luck!!

I had the reach bars installed on my 06 UC. the difference was great for me, i'm 5'6". You do unfortunately need the extended cables, and by the way, you'll need new grips.

I have them on my 07RKC, and I don't think anything extra was added. the parts guy looked up numbers, the shop guys did the work, most cabling is hidden now and I've enjoyed the change over since.

I'm short legged with long torso and average arms. I still feel like I'm reaching for the handlebars or riding straight armed more often than not.

I have the same problem with the '07 RKC bars - does anyone know what the HD part no. is for the stock '07 RK Classic bars? I need to do some measurement checks. Thanks.

Looks like the stock number is 55191-82T, the reduced reach number is 56152-04A and has a "requirement" link to click on. That's where if gives all the part numbers for the cables and such.

I didn't use Harleys but I did put a set of KURYAKYN Burly Bars on mine. Man what a differance, they look a lot like the stock bars but pull back a lot farther. The stock throttle andclutchcables reached as well as the brake line (they are almost to short but they work fine) an I had to lengthen the wiring harness a few inches.
My acking back loves them.

Installed the Reduced Reach bars on mine, and did have to lengthen my wiring. I didn't buy HD's incredibly overpriced extensions, I just spliced them in myself. I know at least they're properly soldered and insulated. If you're handy with a soldering iron and multimeter, it's no sweat. The main reason the extensions were needed, though, is due to them being drilled for internal wiring. They don't have the indention on the underside like the stock bars, so the wiring harness will get pinched by the control housing if you don't run them internally. Therefore, the need for wiring extentions.

I didn't change my clutch, throttle cables, or brake lines. They're fine. My dealer parts guy actually advised me it wasn't necessary, despite what the parts list says.

Wire extension kit is all you'll need. I have the reduced reach bars on my RKC. Part# for the bars is 56152-04A
