Did I make a mistake. I had rush slip ons at the HD dealership waiting for me, but then yesterday I bid on some SE slip ons. Well I won the bid at $227.00. I think that is a good deal. Which mufflers would I be more happy with?
I started with the SE slip-ons when I purchased my RK Custom. They sounded pretty good, but I wanted a bit more sound. When I looked at the Rush design (baffle is open and flow-thru) thats what I decided to do. But here's the interesting thing. I kept my SE muffler and the Rush baffle fits it perfectly. So I ordered the replacement baffle only. I have the 2" baffle and the sound is "throaty" and perfect for my taste. So if you go through with the SE purchase....you can always take that approach if you not satisfied with the sound. The baffle was less than $50. One advantage to keeping the SE's is that you can change the tips.
So the SE baffles are removable? The Rush baffles fit in the SE mufflers? Is 227 a good price for SE? What engine mod is mandatory after installing slip-ons if all I am going for is sound? Does the slip ons affect the warrenty?
I have the SEslip-ons on my bike.My tips are not removeable. The one thing i like is that the SE's have a good sound and rumble but yet you can still enjoy the radio while cruising down the road. Thats just my opinion though.

Ditto! Not only your opinion. I loved the sound of them when getting on it but still being able to listen to my passenger and radio while at cruising speeds of 80mph. The only reason I changed out mine was because I love the look of the V&H Ovals better. Still hoping they sound close now.
The tips on my SE's are removeable and the baffle slides right out. So I just replaced the SE baffle with the Rush. Sounds like the particular SE's you have purchased are a bit different.....but given the info the others have shared....sounds like a pretty good deal and a sound you will like.
